A million dollars isn’t enough to make you rich any more. Sure, it’s still huge, and I’d take it if it were offered, but my meal at Five Guys yesterday cost me $15 and I wasn’t getting anything special. Owning a house could eat most of that million, or all of it if you were picky. And a million still won’t save you from bankruptcy if you get an expensive illness. (That’s the definition of rich, to me—you have enough money that even a horrible illness won’t bankrupt you. A millionaire isn’t rich.)

Now, would I rather have a million dollars or superpowers? Obviously it depends on the superpowers. But even if it is a random choice from a couple of dozen cool ones that would be worth more than a million dollars to me. I could probably make lots of money using a superpower, depending. Plus it might be worth spending a million dollars (if I had it) for even a 5% chance of infinite health/immunity to aging.

If it is a bucket of really lame superpowers like, “have a third arm” or “can turn 1 lb of rock into paper per day” or “ultrasonic hearing” or “really perfect pitch” etc, then I’d take the million.
