My boyfriend doesn't like when i wear crop tops
Me (19F) and my boyfriend (20M) have been dating for two years now. He actually isn't the jealous or controlling type at all; if a guy flirts w me he just laughs about it because he knows i won't flirt back. He doesn't get jealous if i hug a male friend or anything like that. But there is one thing. He absolutely HATES when i wear crop tops.
Now, I'm not talking about ridiculously cut ones, im talking about tops where only a few cm of the waist is shown, and no cleavage. He says that the only reason i wear them is to get sexual attention from guys on tje street. I don't care about other men at all, and i actually get catcalled regardless of what i wear, as most women do.
He gets very childish and manipulative when he seems me wearing them. He doesn't yell at me, but he passive aggressively says that, if i don't respect his wish of me not wearing crop tops, then that means he can also do what he wants e.g. text girls i don't know on instagram. He says that he used to respect everything i wanted him to change, but now that he sees i still wear crop tops, he doesn't care about t anymore.
I'm genuinely confused because his jealousy only comes out with this, not even short skirts or dresses, even though men realistically sexualise legs and thighs waaay more than an inch of the waist.
I've come to a point where i carefully pick out clothes specifically so he doesn't comment on them. Should i continue putting up with it or just wear what i want even if it upsets him?
TL;DR: my boyfriend is never jealous except when i wear crop tops and this is taking a toll on my self esteem and clothing choice.
