UPDATE: Should I end the relationship?

I wanted to expressed my thanks to everyone who responded to my previous post. I wasn't expecting that amount of input and I'm really shocked and appreciative of the number of people who took the time to read, comment, and offers words of advice.
We talked today and ultimately ended the relationship. Overall, it was very mature/amicable despite the problems leading up to it. He was sure he wanted to look into dating other people, which is a huge blow to my self-esteem. I voiced my concerns about the relationship over the past while, which seemed to come as a huge shock to him, so it really reinforced my thoughts that he was clueless and/or didn't care about how to be a good partner.
This has been pretty devastating after 2 years together, but I have a few amazing friends that are helping me through this. I'm determined to throw myself into my law school studies and be the best I am capable of (Elle Woods reference for those of you who suggested it). I am also looking into adopting a cat, now that potentially moving in with his dog is no longer in consideration.
