The School Experiment (Part 2)
Part 1
Hey guys I?m Cory. I have read through all your comments and while most of you kept on calling our situation a ?Battle Royale?, some of you guys gave some really good tips. Main tip you guys gave was to just get weapons, food and hole up somewhere. So that?s exactly what Simon and I decided to do. Simon wrote the last post. We are sharing this account.

Simon picked up the pistol he had from the ground and pretty much practiced how to use it. Once we were confident, we slowly walked out into the silent but deadly school. All we could hear were crows and the rustling of trees. It was absolutely silent. Looks like everyone had just holed up somewhere. We were grateful we got the computer lab. We walked out into the main area and found nothing. Looks like everyone had taken the loot. It was very very quiet, like it was a horror movie.
I spotted someone staring at us from a window. We locked eyes for a brief moment until they quickly turned away from the window. I quickly ran away from that area. As we were about to go to the cafeteria to see if we could get food. We suddenly heard voices from there. Simon and I hid around the corner and took careful peeks.
It was a group of boys. They were tall and athletic. Each of them had a gun whether it be a pistol or a shotgun. They were taking all the food boxes from the cafeteria.
No way were Simon and I about to face these guys. We were both barely athletic or as tall as them. They were more in number as well. We quickly exited that place making sure not to make too much noise.
We went back to the main area and this time saw a bunch of girls walking around. Again we hid around the corner. They were also holding firearms. Simon and I slowly made our way past them as well and started going down to the ovals and less visited parts of the school. We didn?t bother going into the buildings due to fear of getting stuck in the hallways and getting shot from both ends.
The ovals were empty and lots of loot was scattered around the oval. I was able to get myself a shotgun and pistol. We also found food and water. Lots of it. We put it in our backpacks and were ready to run when we noticed the school perimeter fence. There was no one guarding it. We could easily escape. I walked closer and closer to the fence and was about to climb it
Simon thought differently though and he quickly pushed me back and warned me that the fence could be electrified. We didn?t know anything about how to test if a fence is electrified other than touching it of course. We moved away from the fence when suddenly a bullet ricocheted off the fence. We frantically looked both directions and saw another duo like us shooting at us.
Here we were in an open field with nothing to take cover behind getting shot at. We ran around in random directions and jumped and stuff to avoid getting shot at. The other kids shot relentlessly. They wanted our loot.
I shout to Simon and tell him we should try shooting back. We were very lucky that those guys had really bad aim, but eventually a shot would hit. Simon stood still for a bit holding his pistol with both hands and shot at them trying his best to aim.
His first shot miraculously hit one of the other kids. I quickly pulled my pistol out of my pocket and tried to shoot the remaining kid as well. I couldn?t stop him before he shot Simon.
It all happened in slow motion. First I shot my shot on the kid. He was distracted by Simon and actively focused on him. Then the kid shot his shot pretty much at the same time I shot mine. The bullet whizzed through the air and went right through Simon?s chest. The pistol fell out of Simon?s hand as he fell over backwards and clutched his chest. I immediately ran over to him.
It took me a while to register what had happened. Simon was groaning and his clothes were soaked in blood. Suddenly I saw more people coming to the ovals. I would love to say that I stood by him the whole time and carried him back. I did nothing like that. I left him and ran.
I will deeply regret my decisions there for my whole life. I should?ve done something. I shouldn?t have left him there.
I ran back to the computer lab at top speed. I barricaded the door with tables and closed the blinds. Suddenly I heard the familiar crackle of the school PA system.
170 students remaining. We are halfway through Day 1
Then the school bell rang mocking us. I checked my watch. We would be going home at this time. I spend most of my day in the computer lab playing games and whatnot. I tried to forget the memory of Simon dying but it replayed over and over again in my mind.
I watched the sun slowly set from the window and watched the sky change shades slowly from blue to orange and then black. The night brought with it a range of new sounds. The sounds of crickets chirping and the wind whistling. It started raining. At first a light patter and then heavy bucket relentlessly pounding the roof.
I don?t know when but I started crying. Just like the rain it was light at first until I was full on sobbing. I thought about my family, my friends and everyone I loved. Would I ever see them again. Would Simon forgive me?
I beg you to find my school and save me. My name is Cory Baker and I am at Blue Bridge high school.
