If you had to make a "Talking to Men" guideline for women, what rules and tips would be in it?

I'm a man myself, so this is more about learning what other men consider appropriate behavior when women want to talk to them platonically, and what would be considered inappropriate or insensitive while conversing with men. I'll add a couple of my own rules as a small example below this, as well as what caused them to exist. (I don't expect these rules to be obeyed or forced on anyone, they are optional.)
I also want to add that I don't hate anyone or any gender/sex/sexual preference, and if something I say seems to be distasteful or hateful, please let me know so I can try to clarify or correct the mistake.

My Personal Rules
1) If you're not someone I know and care about, or work for, don't tell me what I need to do when I'm asked what I do and why I do it. If you want to give advice or a suggestion, please ask first. I appreciate advice, but not when it's unwarranted and I didn't ask for it. (This came about because I've encountered mostly women who ask what I do, and I get told that I need to do this and that to improve my situation. And it feels like forced advice, advice I HAVE to obey or I no longer talk to them.)
2) If you want to vent to me and I don't know you well, I'd like to know how you prefer I act about it. I'll listen if needed, or give advice if needed. (This was a result of me letting someone I didn't know very well vent to me, and it led to a big argument where she brought up some things that I had stopped doing because she had politely asked me to. Between that and the argument, I had dropped the subject and believed she did so too.)
