Private space launch & exploration (by Stephenem)

Do you guys think it's possible for an individual to build a rocket, fuel it, and launch himself into space.

It's not impossible, but they would need to have a team of scientists and a lot of money/resources. There have been a few individuals who have tried it but it either failed to launch or didn't make it out of the stratosphere. You would also need permits that allow you to launch an aircraft like that.
