Something attached itself to me whilst I was walking home from work

A few years ago, I used to work late nights at the local McDonald?s. The shifts were hard and took a lot out of me because I have anemia. For those of you who don?t know what that is, it?s a condition when your iron levels get really low and you pretty much feel tired all the time. I didn?t have a car at the time so I had to walk to and from work, which just piled on top of my fatigue. So, most of my spare time was spent sitting on the couch watching Netflix.
It usually took me about half an hour to get home, sometimes longer depending on how much energy I had left in me. The way back was mostly lit by streetlamps but there was a short-cut I used to take through an alley that would save me about five minutes where it was completely dark.
I had finished my shift at twelve o?clock and was rushing down my usual route as I had done since I started the job a year before. Everything was normal until I arrived at the point where I usually take my short-cut, as soon I stepped foot into the dark, I got a really uneasy feeling in my gut. I ignored it thinking it must have been something I ate.
I got a little further along in the darkness when I heard footsteps behind me, I quickly turned around and switched the flashlight on. The light from my phone was enough to show me that there was no one behind me. Thinking my tired mind was just playing tricks on me I just carried on paying no notice to it. The path was about to end where the streetlamps once again began, I got a strange feeling as if I was being watched. I panned the flashlight on my phone around, that was when I noticed the shadowy figure moving towards me. My heart skipped a few beats and a cold sensation trembled through my body.
I ran like the wind back into the warmth of the streetlamps and looked back, it was gone. I had no idea what the **** that was nor did I want to find out. I rushed as fast as I could back towards my house. I could tell that something was following me from the sounds of footsteps following my trail. I got to my door quickly nearly dropping the keys trying to open it. Once inside I glanced outside for a second only to discover two crimson eyes staring back at me a few feet away from the door. A menacing grin on it?s dark opaque face. I slammed the door shut harder than I had done before locking it.
I switched all the lights on and looked outside drawing the curtain back only enough so I could see outside. It had vanished. Thinking I was in the all clear I just laid on the couch, still in uniform to catch up on my favorite shows. It wasn?t until I fell asleep, I realized that whatever that thing was had attached itself to me. I started to have crazy intense dreams where I would always end up dead. I started losing sleep and ended up having sever depression and generally just feeling **** about myself.
It wasn?t until I mentioned it to a good work colleague of mine who in to all this paranormal stuff, he said whatever it was must have attached itself to me. He gave me advice on how to fight it before it ruins my life. I was on my last warning at work for being always being late to work due to lack of sleep so I too his advice.
In my dreams whenever a deadly situation presented itself, I would fight back. I started taking back control of my dreams and using my imagination to combat whatever dark malicious entity had ruined my life. I can?t remember exactly when but all of a sudden, I stopped having these weird dreams and my life slowly all went back to normal. A few months have now transpired, I have bought a car and now drive to work and back.
Tonight, I was just about to head to bed but as I went to turn the lights off, I took a glance towards my window and there it was. Long evil smile and them creepy crimson eyes. I ran downstairs and are currently typing this up for you all to read. If anyone on here can help me please let me know in the comments.
