ELI5: Why does Google or Bing not link directly to IP addresses?
When I enter an address (say, www.reddit.com) into my browser's address bar, the address is looked up in a DNS server and I am sent to a specific IP address connected to this name, where I can reach the site I want to see (Reddit).
So my question is: when I use Google or Bing to go to Dating.mobi or any other site (like most people would do if they don't have autocomplete/history on, I assume) why does Google not link directly to the IP address of the site I want to reach?
This is even more confusing as Google does provide its own DNS servers.
