I had a rough night at work. (by Sparky)

I had a rough night at work.

I am a CNA at my local hospital. It has around 800 beds. So it's not small. I go in at 7pm, and usually leave around 730am.
Last night, I was leaving my house when I saw two kids standing by my mailbox. As i was pulling out, I stopped and asked if they were ok. They kept their heads down and asked if they could get in. They needed a ride.
I told them that I'm going to work and that I'd be gone all night. It struck me odd that they wouldn't look up. It was a little weird. What they said next was very strange. After saying that I'd be gone. They said "it's ok, we can wait."
Why would these kids wait 13hrs for a ride? Where were their parents?. I just said ok, and I left. This night, I was on the psych ward. I'm a house float, so I go where I'm needed. This just added to my weird feelings.
On my 9pm rounds, I'm walking by room 12 which is at the end of the hall. I look out the big window and down by the picnic table, I thought I saw someone. Two people. It looked like those damn kids. Same clothes and their heads were still down.
When I'm in the psych ward, my mind always does weird things so I was sure it was my imagination. I hate going there. I usually end up having to pin someone down while we restrain them and sedate.
I let the thought of those kids get the better of me and I just cant seem to focus. I can feel it's going to be a bad night. Well, I was right. Around 1030pm, our guy in room 12 goes crazy. He said these exact words..
"Get those kids out of my room" "Their eyes are black, it's the devil"
He's screaming this. Any other day,I'd blow it off as him just seeing ****. It happens almost every day. Even on the telemetry floors. Meds do some crazy things to the mind. I've had patients claim to have ants crawling all over them to seeing dead relatives. The medical field is definitely interesting.
We rush in and try to calm him. Nobody, even me sees the kids. He's pointing to the corner. He's crying. He is an absolute mess. He keeps talking about their eyes. I never saw them.
He wasn't here for anything crazy like that. He just took some pills last week to try and kill himself. For the most part, he was chill before this happened.
He starts swinging at us so we have to restrain and sedate him. It took four of us and two security guards to get him down. People are strong when they are scared.
Once we get him down and to sleep, it's around 1145. I start a round. I save bed 12 for last. As I'm walking past room 10, I get cold. It just hits. I actually start to get scared. Now, I'm a big dude. I'm 6'3 and 300lbs. It takes a lot to intimidate me.
People don't scare me. But paranormal ****? Nu uh. I dont even watch the movies. I dont believe in the stuff, it's just scary. I've seen poltergeist and never anything after that. I'll nope right the **** out of a room if that **** is on.
As I walk past room 12, in the corner of my eye I swear I saw something moving in his room. I do a quick glance and notice the trees moving outside the window. The wind is blowing pretty rough. So I went and closed the blinds and curtains.
Now, I'll admit that my imagination got the better of me. So I looked in his closet and the bathroom just to make sure nobody was actually in the room. I'm almost ashamed to admit to even giving the idea any thought that someone could have got passed the bolted doors and cameras without any of us noticing. The unit is sealed tighter than a military base.
Not 10 minutes later, we hear the man in room 12 yelling. He's awake. We rush in and he has one restraint off. He's pointing at the corner again, screaming at the top his lungs. "Get the devil out of here." "They're going to kill me" "Why does nobody else see them?"
So we repeat the process. Subdue, restrain, sedate. I'm going to spare you all of the details, because this goes on all night. At least 3 more occurrences of him waking up, screaming, us restraining him. More occurrences of cold spots. Enough to freak me out a bit.
My shift ends and I'm beyond tired. It was definitely the weirdest night that I've had in my 8 years working there. That's saying a lot because I have some crazy stories.
I give report to the oncoming shift. They just kinda laugh and shake their heads. They're used to this ****.
I leave and go get some breakfast at denny's. I need a good breakfast after that night. I eat and go get some groceries. I'm on my way home trying to process the night. I'm exhausted.
I pull onto my street and what I see just blows my mind. It's those two ****ing kids!!! Standing in the same spot by my ****ing mailbox. Wearing the same clothes. I pull in and as I'm going by them, they look up. What I saw scared the **** out of me. Their eyes were the blackest black I could imagine. Surely I'm just imagining this.
I just spent 10 hours fighting with a guy claiming to see this. My mind is just ****ing with me. I park, grab my groceries and run inside. I put everything away and take my dog out back to pee. As I'm walking in, I hear a knock on the door. Who the **** is knocking at 9am?...
Guess what? It's those damn kids. I yell out "What do you want?" "We need to come inside" "We need to call our parents" Despite all of this,I'm still skeptical. I have a ton of ******* friends, who love to **** with me. There are no kids with black eyes,****ing knocking on my door at 9am and asking for rides.
I'm writing this down then I'm going to let them in and see where this goes. My friends are *******s.
