Escape From Room 9 [Part 1]

DAY N

I've become numb to the daily meds. It's not that they don't affect me, they definitely trigger my mind, but I have learned their affect and how they distort my reality. However, I recently have learned the danger in becoming comfortable with the meds. You never actually learn their affect.
"Mr Willis, how are you today?" said the 30 something blonde haired nurse as she prepared my tourniquet.
I never answer them anymore, those bastards. But I'm not fighting this dose, I don't have it within me to go through where I know that fight will lead - being strapped down.
"Mr. Willis are you okay? You seem grumpy today."
Why is she always so perky and happy? I'll just stick my arm out and get this over with...
"Okay here we go, this will only take a moment. Small prick... Okay, and ... done! See you after while Mr. Willis. I'll bring your dinner in at 7."
Alright, back to planning. I have to get out of here. I've researched that once she leaves the room I can take about 1,000 paces wall to wall before she returns.
"Pacing again I see. I wish you would sit more instead of murmuring to yourself like some crazy fool. Come play a game of chess with me."
He's right, I've been here long enough and need to put the plan on pause. I could use a break.
"Alright you're the black pieces and I'm the white pieces. Have a seat. You make the first move."
Make a first move. That's what I needed to do. Step one, make a first move.
My roommate kept speaking, "What are you always thinking about pacing this little room?"
"Do you ever think about getting out of here?"
"All the time... all the time. It's impossible though. The **** they're giving us man, we can't even tell if the nurse is really in the room or if we're just tripping."
"Oh like yesterday?"
"Yesterday? Do you really think you just got your meds?"
"The nurse was just in here and gave them to me."
"You've already had dinner, and you made it to 924 today before she came in, so you're right on target with your 'research'."
"Check." I had his King in line with my bishop.
"You're good at chess though, I'll give you that."
The door squeaked open and as I looked up both the doctor and nurse came in the room.
"Ah, chess, what a great game! You've always been a sharp one Mr. Willis. And how are we feeling tonight?"
Before I could even gather my thoughts I was distracted as the doctor was already measuring my night regiment.
"Fine."
"Good, good. Okay here are your pills, and here's some water. If I could just get you to take these then I'll let you get back to your game. It looks like you're winning too!" he said as he lightly chuckled under his breath looking at the nurse for validation.
"Alright Mr. Willis, we'll see you in the morning. Goodnight."
The intercom came on, "LIGHTS OUT in 1 hour."
Both the nurse and doctor exited the room locking the door behind them as they usually would.
"Holy ****!"
"Keep it down you idiot! Yeah I see it too."
When the nurse was in the room letting the doctor work, she was cleaning her nursing tray up. She forgot she had sat a tourniquet on one of the end tables in our room. It was full of meds.
"What do we do?"
"Checkmate." Robert said as he laughed.
That's the plan. Make a first move, and then checkmate.
"You and I both know there's only one thing that this tourniquet is going to be used for."
"The nurse."
"Exactly. I heard the doctor say they would be back in the morning. I'll get up before the sun rises, and use my pillows and blankets to make it appear I'm in bed. I'll stand behind the door with the tourniquet and when they come in I'll stick the nurse in the neck. I'll need you to grab the doctor and make sure he doesn't hit his emergency caller."

DAY N+1

"I'll be right in."

The door swung open. I grabbed the nurse from behind with my right hand shutting off her mouth, and my left hand driving a large needle into her neck pushing all of the fluids into her jugular. The staff here can't take this ****. They're not on it day in and day out like we are here.
"She's out! Quick, her uniform!" whispered Robert.
I began gagging her with my socks so she wouldn't be able to scream, and then I slammed her head off of the ground. I started undressing her as quickly as I could, all the while adorning myself with her uniform. Luckily the uniform was a decent fit and the uniforms are unisex.
"Hey, did you hear the doc outside say he would be right in?"
The door opened a second time.
"Hi Robert, has Mr. Willis been assisted outside for his recreational time?"
I was crouched behind the door in a small puddle of blood with the half naked nurse as the doctor was having a conversation with Robert. I picked up the tourniquet the nurse had brought in and replayed the scene over again.
"The door! And give me your socks!"
The doctor met the same fate as the nurse. Robert gagged him and we dragged their bodies into our beds making them appear like us asleep in our beds with the blankets over their bodies. Robert began quickly putting on the doctor's uniform.
"Now what!"
Make a first move, and then checkmate.
Peeking outside the door of our room, I knew the way to the supply room on our wing of the facility. At this point we have to try and just make it there.
"Let's go."
