Women who lived through the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, what was your experience relating to abortion?
Contrary to public belief, the abortion rate has dropped alot since the 1970s. The abortion rate hit its peak in 1981 at 29.3 per 1000 women, and the highest total number of abortions was 1.6 million in 1991. That's 2.5x the 2015 abortion rate of 13 (in the USA).
What were things like surrounding abortion in the 1980s and 90s, when so many occured? Was it common? I think of my anecdotal stories - "it happens". If you multiplied "it happens" by 2.5, you would get "pretty freaking common!"
I'm kind of looking to older women who were sexually active during those time periods to share their stories and views about what was going on during those years.
