Amanda gives me answers. -My babysitter got locked in my bedroom, she never babysat again- ***PART 3

I didn’t sleep well last night. My eyes feel so damn heavy today as I got out of bed, even now as I write this. I slept with the lights on but somehow the darkness coming from my bathroom looked like shadows moving in the dark. Watching me, waiting for me. I got ready today to go meet Amanda at the Bakery off Pleasant street, but as recommended I’m coming prepared. I asked my boyfriend to borrow his pocket knife because I’m going to sell something on this app called offer up today. I hate lying to him, but I don’t know what he’ll think if I told him what was really going on. Especially since I don’t quite know what’s going on myself. Once I have answers I am going to explain it to him soon enough though.
I got in my car to head to the bakery and I can’t explain it but I had that stupid feeling like someone was behind me as I got in. I peered in the rear view mirror and gasped just to realize my car seats shadow looked like a person. I sighed in relief knowing it was just my seat, man I really should’ve slept more. As I made my way down to the Bakery, I pondered what questions I should even start to ask Amanda. What will she answer anyway? I kept in mind she could be dangerous so I can’t trust her too much. But there It was, the bakery off Pleasant st. and the clock read 11:56pm.
I walked into the cute pink diner looking bakery, I ordered myself a iced coffee because honestly my eyes grew sleepy even though I was so anxious for answers. I sat in a back corner of the shop, waiting and watching for Amanda to walk through that door. It was now 12:15 and I saw a car peel into the parking lot quickly. I saw a girl with dark hair and black clothes get out, I believe this is Amanda. She walked in and scoped out the bakery that was fairly full of bubbly customers. I could tell she didn’t mind being the outsider to the public as they gave judging glances. She caught eye contact with me and rushed to my table sliding into the booth.
She looked at me and asked: “Taylor..?â€
I nodded- I couldn’t talk because I was more aware that I was gonna get answers- She relaxed back “thank god, I couldn’t quite be sure it was you or not. I’m sorry I’m late, I needed to get something very important before meeting you. She slowly placed her hand on the table sliding it slowly towards me. I could tell there was a paper cupped under her hand, and my eyes looked to her as she nodded reassuring me to take the paper. As she suggested, I took it under my hand sliding it to my lap. She spoke in a hushed voice “don’t, not here. Wait and read it somewhere private.†I agreed but somehow was filled with questions but I felt mute.
I took a breath in and just spilled it out: “Amanda, what did you see? Please, I feel as though I’m now loosing my mind from loss of sleep.†She seemed so sincere and concerned for me but why? “Taylor... that. Thing. I wish I never played that joke on you, I truly believed you were just a scared little girl. But my god, that thing was not your friend. It does not want to be anyone’s friend. I haven’t found out it’s true name yet, but I’m going to...tonight. I’ve been reading up on demonology and it’s very clear that what we both have encountered is indeed a demon.†I leaned forward to listen more intently “Amanda... what did you see in my bedroom?â€
Amanda’s eyes grew wide, she really was remembering that night. “You mean what I’ve been seeing since that night for 19 years?†My coffee I had been sipping on somehow was harder to swallow. “Taylor. What you were seeing as a little girl was a very large shadowed figure, but that’s the thing he didn’t have a body. No face, It’s just a shadow in the figure of a man but it twitches as it looks at you. He spoke to me that night, telling me to leave you alone because he was promised your body.†I grew even more confused... “promised my body? What?†She leaned into me “someone much powerful than this thing, you, or me, had promised it a body in return of killing you. I don’t know why they want you dead but they do. I ended up running away from home because it now was using me to try and kill you.â€
I shook my head repeatedly “no, no, no. You’re INSANE Amanda. I should have never come, I haven’t even seen this thing since I was a kid. I don’t even remember what he looks like. Is this some sick joke you’re still trying to play on me?†She looked at the paper she gave me, “trust me, read the paper when away from me. I can promise you if you want answers. True answers, read the paper and do as it says. I can’t speak of something’s with you. This thing somehow comes around me at times and I just can’t trust telling you this out loud. Just trust me.†Amanda got out of the booth “trust me Taylor, if you want the answers read it, and do as it says. I must leave now, I need a few last things for tonight.†My heart started to pound in my chest and I felt as though my world was spinning. As Amanda rushed out the door and sped off into the town. I had this urge to go and read this paper she gave me immediately. So I threw my coffee cup in the dirty bin and went to my car.
As I sat in my car, I looked around at my surroundings. Making sure no one or nothing was in sight. I started unfolding this paper Amanda had given me and started to read the scribbled writing in blue ink.
“Taylor. I’m going to stop this thing for good, but I need your help. I’m going to be at Wakebay pond tonight right before it turns into night. I need to set up everything just right so when we call this demon out, it works. If you have anything from your childhood, please bring it. If you come you’ll finally see what I saw, and what you did as a child. But now in it’s true form. We can end this, for good. And maybe can finally we can feel safe at night again.â€
I know this sounds crazy guys but I went home searching through bins of my old things. I found my childhood stuffed animal I use to hold when scared of the dark. Now I’m in my car writing this to you all. I don’t want to be afraid of dark anymore. It’s getting dark soon. So I’m going to head to Wakebay pond, if I don’t respond tomorrow by noon you’ll know what happened. But until then, leave your lights on because tonight I won’t have the light and I fear at least someone will need it. If not me, protect yourself. Till then, I’m going to go meet this thing, this old fear of mine. That’s right, I’m coming for you Carrot Man. Whoever you are, tonight I’m ending my fear of the dark.
