Should gays be cut out of the yearbook? (by Critter1211)
Local story...a girl that is lesbian didn't want to wear the traditional dress as her senior photo, she wore a tux instead. The school has decided to not include her photo in the yearbook. The mom is arguing discrimination. The school says it's there policy that girls wear a dress and boys wear a tux, however, they also state there is nothing stating this, this is just how they've always done it. So...do you think it's right? Should they exclude her senior photo cause she is dressed differently?
If it's not a rule... they can't enforce it. Even so... I think the seniors should be allowed to dress how they want... within reason
I'm wayyyyy before this time, but our yearbook photos were just taken in whatever you showed up in. You knew the day was coming and you showed up in what you wanted the pic taken in. Some would wear suits, some would wear just regular clothes....and some chicks, who everyone knew were Butch rednecks would dress like the male rednecks...just like every other day lol. It wasn't ever questioned, or a spotlight put on it by anyone...it just WAS....seemed to work. But back then, no one was an attention wh0re

That's called creating an issue out of nothing . The girl is right , she can wear anything descent if there is no clearly written dress code . I suppose that's why most schools have prescribed uniforms , atleast in my place they do .
Yes it's ridiculous in my opinion. I mean, they all dress the same for senior photos, but I don't think they should not include this girls photo just cause she's in the boys outfit instead of the girls. It's still the appropriate attire. Her mother has contacted lawyers to sue the school for discridiscrimination.
“He [the principal] informed me that it’s their policy that all females wear a drape for their senior picture and males wear a tux,” the student's mother said. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News reached out to Director of Schools Troy Kilzer for comment. He said although there is no written policy in place, it’s been a practice for many years.
