Ok in the uk we don't have the death penalty, it hasn't been for many many years. It is something that fascinates me though, death row and everyones views on it all. I know its not a jolly topic but like I said it really interests me :)

I must admit my views on this subject have changed as I've gotten older. In my younger days, I was of the "hang em from the nearest oak tree" crowd. I now am of the opinion that it should be used only in certain cases. One things for sure, its not a deterrent. A raging methhead does not think of consequences wen he kills someone. Then again, I guess he shouldve thought BEFORE doing the drugs in the 1st place. I do believe that there are certain cases where it should be expedited as quickly as possible....a child murderer, an elder murderer, a serial killer, or a rapist (even if he didn't kill his victim) should be not be allowed to suck in anymore of our oxygen. But the druggie who kills another druggie in a bad dope deal...eh, jus lock him away forever. Guess it just really depends on the circumstances of the crime to me

Agree completely to heinous crimes .China have Death Penalty while Philippines had before but human rights advocates never stop until it has been abolished now what remains is the life sentence for those who commit heinous crimes , however the justice system in the Philippines isn't fair ( money talks ) so it's difficult for poor people who can't afford the lawyers fee to defend themselves but if only justice is given fairly just like in China then YES....

I a million per cent agree with everything you just said @ ram. I wish it still happened in the uk. And also where I come from they have their own government and criminals are punished pretty harshly. Murder is extremely rare there too. I know of maybe 5 in my whole 30 years living there and living here and visiting back home. The island is so small if someone commits a serious crime they've got no where to run too, it only has one airport and sea terminal and they get notified very quickly.

Im totally against it . In my opinion its just state sanctioned murder and the fact that it has been proven that many innocent people have been put to death and that its likely that many more innocent people are on death row but cant afford a decent defence lawyer just makes it totally unacceptable . And i find it funny how certain american states like texas preach to the world about morality but yet they give mentally retarded people and kids the death penality when even countries like russia dont have capital punishment and thats just a joke
