What is something you were surprised to discover was only regional, although you assumed it to be widespread or even universal?

A slugburger
Origins from Corinth Mississippi
Befor you ask no its not made from slugs ( snails ) lol It got its name from the depression
Back when it only cost a nickle nickname a slug. They are made from ground up beef and pork mixed and breaded with soybean meal. Deep fried in grease put on a 5 inch bun with mustard a pickle and onion. The are chewy on the inside but crunchie on the outside. They are so goooood. Every 1st weekend of july they have a big slugbuger festival with carnival rides and outdoor concerts. Its kinda funny to watch people thats never had one eat one there so good they end up eating about three of them and people from the northern states end up grabbing a sack full to take home with them. The only place they are famous is in North Mississippi
