Breath of Spring (by alynn)
The door creaks and squeals at the arrival of a spring storm. / The sky casts it's shadow upon the town, turning all a dim glowing gray / As plump clouds decorate the air with warm rain / And a woman in red stands splashed on the corner, / her dress splotched from flooded potholes and mire. // After a spring storm, sunbeams greet the sodden stormed over land / earthworms scale their slimy bodies over mudded concrete streets; / clouds sinking slowly to the shadowed trimmings of sky. // The melodic tweeting of birds can be heard, / if you listen closely amongst the trees. / And the sweet sight of late morning glows of the mounting sun, / and the song of long-ago summers that have come and gone, / only to return in whispers / through shadeless curtains trying to blanket the wind.
