Having lived in missouri ,I have discovered more history every day that I didn't know. Where the pony express was started. Infamous outlaws jesse james ,cole younger were born here. Capone and his gang resided in. Kc mo for brief periods of time. Walt Disney created some of his first cartoons here. A president was born and retired here. Many landmarks dot the state, caverns rivers and byways. Old rt 66 and bright neon lights. I love my home state, and still discovering what she holds within her boundaries

@donk75: American history, probably not. But its neat to go to places, even in your own state and learn about what you don't see or hear about in history class.

I think the Mark Twain national forests and the Ozarks have some of the most beautiful scenery.

They used to teach history but i am long way out of school. But that is one of the reasons i want to visit other states. To see the beauty and the history. I definately have to see oklahoma because that where grammy was from. Arkansas to thats where my papa was from. From what they said at papa's funeral i want to see the golf course at the university of oklahoma if its still there because he helped build it for fifty dollars to mary my grammy.
