Battery Issues (by MikeN2014)

Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I have been having trouble keeping a charge on my phone (Galaxy S3)
Well, the times I have the charger in and using it, it doesn't charge just slowly drains. So I just put it on standby to see if it will charge and when on standby it either stays at the same percentage of charge or drains. I have even turned it off for an hour and still hangs at the same charge percentage and don't charge. I even have two battery apps and a fast battery charger app and they don't seem to work either. And my memory on my phone is only at 37% used with not many apps on the phone. Why doesn't my battery hold a charge. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue or is my battery shot, and have to get a new one?

@MikeN2014: I remember reading awhile ago that the charging port is a common issue on the S3.....

It might be as simple as a replacement charger cord. All. Samsung phones that use that type of charger are notorious for the cord wearing out rapidly. $5 fix.
