The key is to walk in with a smile, have an open mind & be confident thinking your going to make friends. If your mind is wary or somewhat closed, even "wondering what's going to happen", you'll have trouble getting past your own insecurities. Therefore, your brain will revert to defense mode and you'll slink back into " wait till they talk to me mode." Not something you want if your looking to make friends and have them naturally want to gravitate toward you. It is important to talk to people first and have interesting things to talk on that engage them in the room. Yeah ok it all sounds easy maybe but truthfully, it's not that hard, again, smile confident open mind be interesting and DONT, I repeat, DONT just nod smile and give simple replies when someone talks to you. Be interested in what they are saying and elaborate on their conversation. The thing is, people like the fact THEIR conversation is topic and you can win friends and influence people by engaging them on their conversation with interesting angles which they may not have spoken on before. Be fresh on the topic, n they'll love pretty much what I do.
