Should russia not host 2018 world cup? (by james85)

Should Russia be stripped of the 2018 World Cup? Deputy PM Nick Clegg reckons it should lose the hosting rights as part of tougher sanctions against the nation following the horrific crash of MH17 and the war in Ukraine. But would this just heighten mounting tensions? Would cancelling the event punish the Russian public rather than those in charge?

Based on the crash and the war? No they shouldn't lose hosting the Cup. Then again, I could care less now...and in 4 years, I'll care even less. Maybe I'll have a 2 or 3 y/o running around! Lol

Yep putin should realise he has wronged a lot of countries , there is a lot of ill feeling from oz towards russia now and i think a boycott or something is justified

Give the 2018 to Spain or some country that appreciates the sport. But Putin will do whatever he wants cause didn't he invade Ukraine doing the Olympics in Sochi? He might be upset cause the Russian hockey team choked in its own Olympics. 2022 in the US, 2026 in England, and 2030 in Mexico or Argentina. That's my opinion

I don't think it should be in Russia. It's a high risk

There might be peace by then. But still a high risk while putin is alive.

Yeah, but did they shoot down the plane with no warning? Was it shot down by Russian military or seperatists?

I take back part of my answer. I don't know enough facts about it to say yay or nay to Russia & the World Cup. So, I'll stick with I don't care.
