Anyone ever flipped a house? (by sweeterthejuic3)

Also, I don't want to go to one of those
Flipping Homes seminars where you end up
paying them an end buyers fee for your
investments. Sounds like a sham...
"" You may
recognize
Armando
Montelongo as
the former star
of the A&E hit
series “Flip This
House.” Or
maybe you have read about, or even
attended, his increasingly popular
motivational seminars. Armando is a wiz
when it comes to buying distressed houses
dirt cheap, fixing them up, and then reselling
them to make a profit. His fame and success
have become the platform on which he
educates adults on how to “get rich quick.”
According to Forbes , the Armando
Montelongo Seminar “offers long weekends of
questionable advice, raucous showmanship
and tours of foreclosed homes in some of
America’s poorest sections.” The first 90-
minute session is free, but after that the
price spikes up to $1,497 per couple for the
second session, and then a whopping
$40,000 per couple for the weekend
conference. So who is really making millions
from these seminars? Armando himself.
According to Forbes, his company is
expected to make $100 million in revenue
this year from the 350,000 “students” who
attended his seminars.
Better Business Bureau urges you to be wary
of “get rich quick” enterprises. ""

@sweeterthejuic3: Keep in mind that you can save money by buying used doors, lighting fixtures, and the like from places like the Habitat for Humanity REstore. Saves you fat stacks and helps put people in new homes.

You could always drive around your neighborhood and write down the addresses of empty homes. Then with a little research of homes deep in back taxes you can pick up some places for a few thou. I know a dude that was able to quit his job and just live off the rent he collected from the seven houses he bought. Had less than $70,000 total investment.

@OmgItsJessi: It's not something I want to do very soon, too many student loans, but eventually I'll look into it, thanks.

@OmgItsJessi: I think it's the same way in TX, after so many you gotta have a dealer's license.

@sweeterthejuic3: Could also save money by offering friends who know their way around hammers beer and pizza to help out. Helped paint a whole house one time for a 30 pack and a half rack of ribs.
