Wow . I hope that comet does hit cuz at least then i will be able to put my telescope to good use instead of just looking at craters on the moon or the good looking girls down the street :p

There is only one thing Earth has to worry about if the comet hits Mars... Ejecta... Pieces of the Red Planet will possibly be slung into the inner solar system and Earth will definately be in a cosmic shooting gallery... What goes up sometimes doesn't come back down if there is enough velocity to the object, this impact, if it happens, will possibly one of the largest ever observed by scientists. The problem with comets is once they get close enough to the sun, they start to vent out gases and are very unpredictable to track. As of right now, NASA is working on three scenarios, impact, near miss, or entirely miss. The comet's name is Siding Spring or C/2013 A1.
