Cervical cerclage (by CarefulBitchesImPregnant)
Just wondering if anybody here has ever had a cervical cerclage done, I have a appt next week to talk about getting one but I'm kinda confused because my cervix isn't causing my preterm births, rupture of membranes is, so I don't see how it will help
The membrane that ruptures is the cervical membrane, part of the cervix. The same membrane that stretches and dilates during birth. When the nurse says a woman in labor is at a 2 or a 5, etc....what they are talking about is the thickness of that membrane....the thinner it is the closer to giving birth you are. So if that membrane isn't strong enough to hold the baby inside the womb complications occur. They stitch the cervical opening closed to keep pressure off that membrane and then unstitch it when its time to give birth. My sis carried 3 healthy babies to full term with that procedure
@BoxBlockingBitch: thanks. I guess that helps. Ive only had the weekly shots, that didn't do any good
Several members of my family required this procedure...it tends to run in families. No bad experiences to share here, only joyful healthy births...good luck!
@BoxBlockingBitch: I don't know anybody that has had it. Is it painful?
My friend Sara had to have it done.....it was either that or bed rest for the remaining pregnancy ! She said it wasn't painful just a lil uncomfortable feeling !
@heikeva: lol thank you. I was on bedrest with my other ones but that didn't help either.
Lil pain when procedure is done...nothing outrageous, but after healed no pain
