The Fort Hood Shooting and Terrorism (by WalkSoftly1)

On November 5th,2009, Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened at the Fort Hood Military base in Texas killing 13 people and wounding over 30 others....in the subsequent investigation, the Dept of Justice and federal law enforcement agencies ruled that this was a case of workplace violence and not an act of terrorism...despite reports the Hasan screamed "Allahu Akbar" (God is great in Arabic) before starting his shooting spree....and it was revealed that he had had email contact with Anwar al Awlaki, a known terrorist, prior to the shooting. Since it was ruled workplace violence, and not a terrorist act, those military personnel killed or wounded are not eligible for a Purple Heart Award.....a travesty, I think...your views?

@WalkSoftly1: that is sad. Especially considering hassan's intent in the shootings. He meant it as retaliation for Iraq and Afghanistan. The designation as workplace violence is a very unfortunate misnomer.

And whats worse is that is was revealed that the NSA, the same National Security Agency embroiled in current turmoil, knew abt the emails with the known terrorist BEFORE the shootings.
