About a month ago I found out my dog Bear has lime desease (I know I probably spelled it wrong). The Vet gave me two options, give him IV's or have him put down. I can't afford either one so Im letting him live out his life at home with me. In the last few days he has quit eating but he does drink his water. This really is killing me to see him waste away to skin and bones. I don't know what I can do to make him eat. He is so weak he can hardly stand. If I loose him It will hurt me so much, he is my best friend. He goes or should I say use to go with me almost everywhere.

I know what you meen. I've had dogs since I was little and its hard on me when they die. But this time will be the hardest.

@Bigdude1981: You gotta know going into it that the chances of you outliving your dog is pretty good. I know that doesn't help with the pain of loosing him/her, but you have to think about what a great life you gave him and what a great companion you were to each other, Compared to what some dogs must endure.

I lost my dog about a month ago...it killed me. I put her on IV's for about 4-5 weeks then she had surgery and passed away 48 hours later. Putting her down wasn't an option EVER but we almost had to put my moms cat down and its only around $25 that's pretty cheap...and better then watching ur pet in misery

@Hawkeye58: You are right. I do have alot of good memories especialy of the funny sh*t he did, like crawling around on his belly to scratch his balls.

good gosh that's outrageous. My puppy's bill ran right below a thousand but that's iv fluids for a month...over night stays, and surgery...along with xrays and blood test

@Briteeyes: Yeah I go to the best and most expensive Vet in my area. They have been good with all my animals.

I went through the exact same thing with my kitty Gizmo a few months ago. Hr was the most awesome kitty in the whole world and at three years old he developed a stomach tumor. My vet told me i could pay 700 to remove it with a high chance he would still die or sign over his rights and they'd but him to sleep for free :''( i had no $$ so of course ..... u kno
