I know this is probably a stupid question. I hope its not been asked b4. But what is the difference between 'Forums' and 'Blogs'? Besides the obvious... Ive been reading the blogs and some sound like what blogs are suppose to be. But others are like forums. Can someone enlighten me please?

Forums I believe are where one person posts something they wish for others to expand upon whereas blogs are one's personal thoughts/stories/feelings/creativity being poured out for all to see. I could be wrong, but this is my guess.

Heh, I stray away from them unless they're someone I enjoy talking/listening to.

@LonelyAngel2: until the "blog" option on the home screen appered you could only read a blog if you looked at a persons profile. people can use them to offer a more personal insight

@BadLuck: I understand. I was wanting to write one and was going to see if my idea of a blog was used and got confused.

As far as Im concerned, a blog is used for a person to express their personal opinion about a particular subject...but thats just me.

The Blogs are an extension of your profile. Your profile covers the basics, but doesn't allow someone to really delve deep into who you are as a person, how you think, what kind of personality you have, etc. A Blog allows you to do just that since you can write about anything, and let people explore a deeper, more sincere side of you they won't find anywhere else.

Although people also learn about you from Forum posts, those are scattered with no general thesis that mainly benefits those who interact with you in the Forums on a regular basis. With your Blog, you control the conversation, the tone, the direction, and the topic. Others can leave you comments (if they meet your Contact Restrictions), but you can delete those at will with a single click of a link. In the Forums, you can't prohibit anyone from participating in your threads, nor can you control the direction of a thread, so it's a lot more difficult for you to construct a window into your mind and soul when all your posts are scattered throughout the Forums and mixed together with a lot of "noise" from other users (I don't mean "noise" in a negative light, I mean "noise" as in posts from others that aren't you). With the Blogs, it's all about you.

Also, don't worry if your idea for your Blog has already been used, because it hasn't been used by you, and that's what matters.

Hope this helps and inspires you to start your own Blog and show potential suitors what you're all about. Who knows, your future partner might fall in love with who you are before they even say "hello"!
