That's probably because you have a phone that does not accept cookies and you are getting to the Confirm Phone page using the link in this thread, which will strip out your session ID from the URL (and log you out).
Try accessing the Confirm Phone page by going to "My Account" on the Home screen and then clicking the "Confirm Phone" link at the top.
