Well the color red 2 me is like a red flag stop sign lol so i thought red was bad Karma maybe write bad under the blue square and good under the red one idk ??
OK, so the colors aren't intuitive, that's important to know because I can easily change them to something more intuitive. Maybe -1 should be red and +1 should be green, would that make more sense?

Also, is the number inside the buttons (-1 / +1) not visible on your phone by any chance? (If it's not visible on anyone's phone, please let me know, folks.)

@Andres: Does the person who receives a Karma vote know that they are receiving a vote? How many bad Karma votes is each user allowed before their profile is given an Alert message when we view them? I think most of the Bad Karma comes from users who are disrespectful on the Forums, could we Bad Karma an user because of that too?

OK, I will try the Red (negative) / Green (positive) motif to see if that works better. I don't want to put additional text in a new line if I don't absolutely have to because the screen real estate on a mobile screen is precious, so let's see how it goes with the color change first.

Users are notified whenever they receive negative karma so that it gives them an opportunity to improve their behavior before a Warning appears on their profile. The Warning message on the profile is not determined by just the number of bad Karma but by the SUM of all Karma (negative and positive). When a user has received 4 or more bad Karma votes than good Karma votes (e.g. a sum of less than -3), then the Warning message will be displayed.

Regarding the forums, actually the vast majority of harassment and lack of respect occurs via Private Messages. It would be very difficult to implement it in the Forums without it getting abused because the idea is that ONLY a user you have contacted can give you Karma. In the Forums, it's a free-for-all where everyone can participate, so we would have to determine who has replied to who, and considering we did not code the Forum backend (only the frontend), that would be quite difficult to implement. I think since the Forums are public anyway, anyone disrespecting others usually outs themselves (or gets outed by others) pretty quickly, so I also don't see it adding as much value as in the Private Messages where people feel more inclined to be disrespectful since (until now) there weren't many consequences and no one but the receiver could see what they were doing.

Does that make sense?
