Well 2day is a public holiday for us Kiwis Its abit of a sad day.Today many many years ago, N.Z was owned by the British when the settlers came to N.Z 2 Treatys was made Maori( Natives of N.Z) and English Its a sad history if you read about it.Anyhow Maori people still stand strong that they got ripped of back then by the Govt and for years this has caused wars over This Treaty.Back then the cheifs of each tribe didnt speak english let alone knw what they were signing and reading,So argument sake Every signature meant they signed there rights away on the english treaty, and the Maori one wasnt in use.

Gotta love the fundalments of early business which evolve to everyone getting screwd by the fine print and lack of definition of terms.

Yep and the ones who turned their backs and didnt sign were lucky, But for those tribes who did sign it are fighting for their rights still in todays world..

I think there were misunderstandings on both sides sadly and that the Maori people were given a raw deal, but in saying that it isnt right that newer generation kiwis should be at odds over past issues. I reckon a new treaty should be made - between our government (not England) and Maori leaders with terms that are not only more agreeable but also are able to be put into affect. :-) love to my sis Giggles!

And this is my point of me not being racisit :) Iam Maori a proud one and i dont disrespect any other culture because of the nature that happend in N.Z with Maori people, We are lucky now a days however,But i was raised in the now and future way and not raised to remember what happend in the past because it hurts my family to much to re live those days..Im Maori and my dad is White he is actually british so im a half cast,I was raised by my dad when him and mum split, So i grew up loving my dads side then my mums side years later :)
