Im gonna save the long explanation... im stuck 15 miles from home... this stupid car over heated... i dumped about a gallon of water into it...how long should i wait before getting back on the road??

@LucySDisguise: That could be hard to say, what kind of car is it? But before you start it again check your water before you get back on the road. Leave your cap off before starting it so it won't have pressure on it but be sure to put it back on before you leave. Just let your car idle for a few minutes & see if it's ok 1st

@LucySDisguise: I forgot to mention that you should add Anti-freeze as soon as you can.
