So for most of my friends who know me, you know i work hard and usually never have a day off. And if i do i have my nephew on those days. Well just got back from child services, after they called me and i had to leave work. Apparently my sister in law got caught with drugs in her car while my nephew was with her. She's going to rehab. My brother is no where to be found. And no one is willing to take my nephew in. He's two years old and i love the kid to death. Well i'm seriously thinking about going ahead and signing the adoption papers to keep him. But i'm not sure if it's the right thing to do. Advice and moral support is greatly appreciated :/

children are more important than anything. id say if your brother cant be found then yes! that child needs someone.

My opinion- yes take care of him! I'd do the same.

She's already been in rehab once. The woman i talked to at the agency said that she got busted earlir today and they've been trying to reach someone to get my nephew. I was the only one who answered i guess. But the way they talked, my sister in laws parents went ahead and signed papers to send her off again. I say good riddence. She wasn't exactly the best mother anyway.

If there's no chance of finding your brother then better to take care your nephew BUT how ready are you now to take care full time of a child ( emotionally , physically ,financially , etc ) ?

You are too young to step up as a parent and while raising a child is indeed a remarkable duty but it isn't easy also especially if you are working full time .

I think , it would be best if your parents or the in laws parents would be the one who would take care of him and you will be there to support whenever you can be ..

@Skittles19: please take it one day at a time, one hour at a time. Your nephew needs your moral support now as well,, and mostly just to know his not deserted and still loved to bits. Just don't bite off more than you can chew, you mentioned you work all the time, and you're still young. God made you his aunt for a reason, to be there for him, so as I said one day at a time, speak to the officials and gain temporary custody, until things become a bit clearer for you. It won't do you or him any good if you falter under the pressures and demands of being a full time parent. Be well and God Bless. God grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen

That's the problem though. The in law's parents don't want him unless they recieve a check off of him. They have their other daughter's kids just for that reason. And my mom is workin full time as well. I only work mon-fri day shift. Then i take extra shifts if i can. I got night classes at the local college. I'm ready to take him full time. I've done it several times bfore. If it wasn't for me, he wouldnt be potty trained or have nice clothes. I've done a lot for the kid. I'm just concerned about my schooling and how i'll handle my work schedule. If i'm all the kid has then i'm well prepared to be there for him.
