I agree it would bring more people, but I think Apps are a fad that will pass at one point in favor of mobile sites, just like how today most people use more websites than programs on their computers. The truth is, there aren't many advantages to an App compared to a mobile site, but there are huge advantages to a mobile site compared to an App.

For example, I only need to program one mobile site and it will work on all phones, but I would have to create a different App for each mobile operating system (iPhone's, Android's, BlackBerry's, etc). To make matters worse, Apps need to get approved by each respective store, so whenever I made changes to the site, I would have to make changes to each of those Apps, re-upload them to each store, and then wait at least a week for those changes to be reflected, and even then they would only be updated for those who actually downloaded the newer version. In contrast, when I make a change to the site, the change is instant for all users across all mobile phones, which allows me to make changes a lot quicker, thus improving the site a lot faster.

So creating Apps would be a huge additional workload (remember, I'm a one-man programming team), it would slow the progress of the site down tremendously, and would only complicate things as different versions of different apps floated around. With a mobile site like we have now, everyone gets the same exact experience at all times, and if there are any issues, I can fix them immediately with no delays. Plus, you can "almost" make the site function like an "App" by saving a bookmark to it on your phone's Home screen (e.g. "Add to Home Screen" on the iPhone), so that it sits there next to your Apps and is only one simple click away.

Sure, Apps are fancier than mobile sites (for now), but I'm not really interested in "fancy". I'm interested in creating the simplest, easiest-to-use, most effective mobile dating site on the planet. I'm also not necessarily interested in "quantity", but "quality" of users, which is one of the reasons I'm so strict about the "be respectful" rule. Having a million idiots isn't going to do much good on a Dating site, and I would rather have 200,000 quality users because it will result in many more fruitful relationships, and that's what we're all about. :)

Remember, we are hosted on a .mobi domain name (not a .com), so the site is already specifically engineered for mobile phones. Although I never say never, there are currently no plans for a Dating.mobi App.

@Andres: Seriously,you can go toany phone carrier and theres an app for datingmobi,its called mobile dating,and a owner doesnt have to go thru all that,the phone carriers produce most app or sites like getjar
