Like It's the Last Time (by alynn)
Who knew a single laugh could shake a room? / You lit and closed the space between us, / outside a crowded club under city lights below the moon. / You twirled me around and around in an old satin dress. / A princess / in ruby red slippers. // Who else would want to dance with me? / Out here in a chilled rain with bare feet. / We danced, we danced, and we danced down cobble stoned streets, / somewhere off in some distant corner of the night. // Your face warm, shoulder cold. Your fingers played across my waist with a masculine grace. / You embraced every crevice of my being, / as we swayed to a ballad, singing something about forever; without time beating on like the hearts of lovers, anticipating a first kiss. / I snuggled my blushing face against your chest. / Your heartbeat drowned the music played. // I fell asleep dreaming in your arms, / as the slow drone of late evening wore on. / I dreamt your hands trembled through my hair. / Who knew a touch could shed a tear? // In time, the sky was on fire.
(continued) "It's hidden flames rising along the deserted city. / A pale dawn washed over the parted windows, and I knew.../ Before the opening of eyes, the awakening of a dead morning. / The limbs of clocks frozen on a random time, had ceased their clicking. // I kissed your lips with aniseed, / Brushed cassia flowers along your cheek, / and I open the dim blinds / To let the sun kiss you one last time."
