I [47F] am starting to date again. My potential date [40M] didn?t feel 2 hours was enough time for a first date. How long should it be?

I am jumping into the dating pool again, and I?m curious on something. I am a single mom, and I had set up to meet a guy (40M) for lunch.
I said that I could meet at 1 but had to leave by 3 to get home for my kid. He was upset by this amount of time together. I honestly felt it was a good chunk of time to meet for the first time, he, however, he said wasn?t. I offered to move our meet time up to noon, but his response was still negative, so I moved on.
TL;DR How long is sufficient for a first date? Honestly I think 30-45 minutes is best and if you wanted to extend it then you can. My potential date was unhappy with 2-3 hours.
