My [30 F] coworker [60 M] constantly overrides what I say (by Sparky)
My [30 F] coworker [60 M] constantly overrides what I say
So, I generally like him. He's nice and knowledgeable, but even when I am the expert on something he seems to think he is the expert. This goes for work related things as well as non work.
For instance, I mentioned that a new store finally opened across from where I live. He responded "Oh, are you sure? I don't think that's supposed to open until next week." Yes...I was sure. I saw with my eyes that it was open.
As another example, part of my job includes installing a specific software that I am a developer of on computers. Only two people at the company perform the installs and my coworkers is not and never has been responsible for this. He is not a developer (non STEM background) or my boss. Someone asked a question about the installation process and I gave THE answer. My coworker then chimed in with an answer and seemed to be asserting it was the correct answer. It was not. Even the person asking the question seemed confused why he said anything and she said "I think /u/ScarySuit would know".
He also frequently answers questions with specific details on how to code something even if that was not the question and frankly, it feels pretty insulting and disrespectful.
Is there something I can/should do about this?
Tl;dr my coworker does not seem to respect or acknowledge my knowledge and it is frustrating. What should I do about this?
