Date asked me to Venmo him?

TLDR: My date asked me to Venmo him a day later, even though he rejected my offers to pay during the date. What should I do?
A day after our first date, as we were normally texting, he asked me to Venmo him for the drinks, food, and for my train fare home.
He (25) asked me out (22F) to go bar hopping 2 days after we matched on a dating app. He'd call me every night and we'd keep steady conversation. We really got along. He really flexed his data science jobs with me (boasting 6 figures), knowing I'm unemployed.
While we were out, I offered to pay the first time and he said no. The second bar, he paid while I was in the bathroom. I bought us desserts and a latte later on. When the date was over, he said he'd pay for my train ticket ($7) after I said I couldn't board until I finished buying it myself.
I'm just really put off by this... I would have 100% paid for myself AND him if he had let me. But to ask me to Venmo him money for the date after it happened is kind of gross. I would've even paid for the second date since he paid most of the first. I liked him before this, but now I feel like money will be a cause of contention if we continue things...
I don't know if I'm in the wrong for feeling this way and I don't know how to go about this. I told him I don't have a Venmo, but I can Zelle him, and he hasn't replied. If he's asking me to pay for only my half, I would probably owe him about $40.
Update: I asked why he didn't accept my payments on the date. He said he only paid for the first bar cause he had a discount. He said he was drunk and wasn't thinking for the second bar. Also, he said he hadn't been on a date in a year, so he forgot etiquette. AND he said he's not trying to play into gender roles. After telling him why this made me feel bad, he told me to forget about it and left it on a goodnight text. So, I guess I'll block him now.
