My [23F] newish friend [27M] keeps asking me for what I consider pretty big favors. I can tell he's getting frustrated I keep turning him down
I met a new friend several months ago through an event. We have a lot of mutual friends now and we hang out from time to time. I like him as a person, obviously, but I haven’t known him for very long.
Anyway he keeps asking for favors that I would absolutely do for a close friend, but definitely do not want to go out of my way doing for a newish friend. For example, he got really drunk one night and asked if I could come pick him up and take him home. It was like 1AM and on the other side of town. Another time, he asked me if I could pick him up from his house and drive him to the airport so he could catch his flight which was at 5AM. Most recently, he asked if I could drive with him to the next state over (which is 4-5 hours away) because he needed to pick up some important documents or something.
Every time he asks for a favor like this, I say “No sorry. I’m busy, I have work, etc etc.†At first he was really understanding, but I can tell that every time I say no, it’s irritating him more and more.
I don’t want to jeopardize our friendship that’s just starting out. But I’m also getting annoyed that he’s even asking so much of me. I guess it comes down to personality differences… like for me, I wouldn’t want to trouble anyone so I’d just catch an Uber home without saying anything. Or I would ask a good friend a long time in advance and offer to pay for gas/buy them dinner in return.
How should I handle this situation? I was thinking maybe I should just do him one of these favors and that way, he’ll feel less frustrated with me and I will feel less guilty. Maybe I am just being selfish? I honestly am unsure now.

tldr: A friend keeps asking for favors that I am reluctant to go out of my way for. I feel guilty for saying no and I think he's starting to feel resentful.
