What can I do about my wife having a difficult time with our daughter getting older?


My daughter will be 20 this year and is currently in a pretty serious relationship

Unfortunately nothing you can do. If it was i would love to know. My youngest is 21 and getting married in November, i'm having a nervous breakdown.

Just like your parents couldn't sop you from growing, you can't stop your kids... and trying to will only lead to them resenting you for it.

You can't stop growth. She has to let go let them go to do their own success or fails in life. All you can do is be a parent and support them either way. I suggest maybe finding groups or hobbies to pass the time to take that needing to care for the child. We never stop being a parent. Our children will always need us no matter what age they grow or have family of their own.
