Ban the burqa? (by james85)
The European Court of Human Rights has backed a French law that bans covering your face in public saying the burqa ban encourages people to live together in harmony. Well if that’s the case maybe we should be trying it here? The only trouble is such a ban would run roughshod over our basic right to wear what we like, wouldn't it?
Well you cant wear a balaklava into a bank jk but i agree with that law but think it should go further as it can represent a radical idealology imo
I hate it when I can't see someone's face but if its part of their religion then we can really say "uncover" can we.
Its all up to you What you like to wear n Use for your own. Have freedom to speak than Why Burqa Ban........ Also part of Religion.
'When in Rome, Do as the Romans'... So in away, I agree w/the French. If Non-Muslim women are excepted to COVER there bodies, hair and or face... And LOOKED DOWN ON, if they DO NOT, In other countries/cultures. Then why should other countries adapt?
@Zilya777: personally I would like to look at someone's face when talking to them.
Where I used to live there were a lot of women who wore a burqa and I just think that since there in the UK, they should adapt to us, just like I'd adapt if I lived in their country.

@Notlikeothers: Exactly my point. People should adapt within reason. Esp for safety.. Most Euro countries & many places here in US. Have CAMERAS everywhere. They do where I live. So every person, in a car or walking is seen. And there FACE. And if they look suspious, or like you could be carrying a conceled weapon etc.. You are stopped. It is a dangerous, terrorist ridden world. I see it also as a safey issue.
@Zilya777: what bugs me is that when I go abroad, I have to go through security, and the look at my passport and look at me, obviously I understand that, but they just let people with burqas go through and they could be a man carrying a bomb or anything.
@Notlikeothers: I know... Too afraid to offend.. Too afraid a GROUP will take it personal instead of the individual. There may be screaming & protest. Smh. There SHOULD be a balance. But things go to extremes. Here young children have been pat down in wheelchairs in airports! People have had terrible embarassments & suffer trauma from airport security (with a few week training & little or no background check).
