Fake accounts without a verified phone number that registered before this requirement went into effect can still use the site, but they won't be able to contact anyone until they verify their phone number. So you'll still see a few of those around.


Even if those fake accounts manage to verify their phone number, I absolutely love banning them now because I know that I've made it a lot more difficult for them to create a new account since they will have to go out and get a new phone number, and once they do, I'll just ban that new number as well. Eventually, it will get too expensive and become too much work to scam our users, and the scammers will just give up. Whenever I ban a fake profile now, I imagine the scammer *sighing* in frustration and wondering how the heck they're going to get a new number, and then remembering one of our competitors that doesn't have this requirement, and just moving on to that site to scam their users instead of wasting time on ours. :)

Important update: After the Phone Verification requirement went into effect a week ago, it greatly reduced the number of fake profiles and scammers registering on the site. However, I still noticed some African Scammers getting through and verifying their fake "US" profiles using US phone numbers.

Well, after working heavily on a "silver bullet" solution to this problem all week, I am proud to announce that the issue of African Scammers using fake US profiles to scam our US users has been completely resolved once and for all. This isn't a 50%, 75%, or even 99% partial solution. This is a 100% complete solution to the problem (OK, fair enough, nothing is 100%, so let's just say 99.99%! :).

I'm not going to go into any details about how exactly I accomplished this for obvious reasons, but the solution is incredibly effective and has completely eliminated any and all current and future fake US profiles from using the site. As most of you veterans know, this was the #1 problem rotting the site, and it is now completely gone as if it never existed.

I don't know of a single dating site that has the unique and powerful solution we do since I custom built it myself from the ground up. As of this moment, we are hands-down one of the safest dating sites on the planet -- if not the absolute safest -- for US users, that does not violate your privacy through a background check.

So, does this mean no scammers from anywhere will be able to register? No, that's impossible to completely eliminate, even with background checks. What this does mean, however, is that you will no longer see people from outside the US registering US-based profiles. In other words, from now on, you will know for sure that if a user says they're from the US, they actually are.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the number of US-based profiles reported drop dramatically! Enjoy and spread the word across the land about the safest dating site on Earth!
