Any suggestions, opinions (negative/positive views about having it done), thoughts about what happens after the declawing. I am preparing to get my cat de-clawed.

@JustMeAndYou77: Poor thing wont be able to defend itself against enemies like dogs, other cats etc and wont be able to kill prey it hunts, which to me stops it being a cat.

Why would you do that? I don't think it's a natural thing to have done. That.'d be like taking spidermans, web spinning ability lmao.

mk, I have considered this and thanks for responding. Well.... She is an indoor cat. And, I was told that some people leave the cat's hind claws which really aren't that destructive. I think leaving the hind claws and having the main claws removed is a little tormenting though. She doesn't use any of her scratching posts. She uses the apt as one big scratching post lol

lmfao Hi OhMan. I see your point. It's not natural but it is a medical procedure that won't be done by me lol

I assume that this is a inside cat at all Times. because the negative thing about is you take one of there natural defenses away along with that they are natural hunters. but any cat declawed should always be a inside cat not indoor and outdoor. for the fact.they ste territorial and need there claws and teeth to keep others out of there territories. but I've seen a few declswed house cats that the furniture and clothes and other items didn't get clawed to death and are very happy.

The thing is, within the last two years her claws seem to grow faster than I can keep them trimmed. I trim them myself. They start to sprout again within the next few days to a week and then she starts sharpening them. She's turned into a scratching menace! I buy a variety of scratching posts (even one that is suppose to trim the claws) and I bought a spray to keep her from scratching. She turns away from the scratching posts and goes for the couch, sniffed the spray on the furniture, rubbed herself against it, and started scratching in that spot rofl
