I know that the 3 we're not captured. The TV show Myth Busters demonstrated that with the materials they had available, they could have got their homemade rubber raft (made from raincoats and glue) to the opposite shore. But there is just no evidence to support whether they escaped or drowned.

This could be true but to get a plan together would be difficult when there mail is always read before given to them. Or if they had visitors there was a guard in the room.

There are and always has been way to get messages to and from inmates w/o anyone knowing. Incoming mail is the only mail read not outgoing

I know sf is two to three hours away from me. Ive been to the coast practically raised there my parents were skin and scuba divers and the only time i will play in the ocean is really hot days that water is freezing.

This is true but i have been to that island and its not an easy as you think. The only way possible is through a guard. As ladawn just said this could be true. Dang no way of ever telling though i would say the boat idea very possible if a guard helped set it up.
