Archery: Geared up or Instinctive? (by masteroftheunknown)
Just curious who, of my fellow archers, uses sights, stablizers or an other gear to improve accuracy and who still shoot instinctively. Doesnt matter if its a compitition shoot or hunting or just practicing in ur back yard. I personally shoot instinctively. I use a browning compound @ 75 lbs and can consistanly shoot 600 arrows per day.
@masteroftheunknown: Started shooting wen I was abt 12 with an old Bear Super Kodiak recurve at graduated from there. Currently shoot a Hoyt Carbon Element.
Nice. Whats ur take on wether or not archery wil make a full come back? I see locally around me there r 3 times as many ppl getting into archery as ther was 10 yrs ago and if as i predict that # will double in 5 years from now. What do u think bud?
Its huge here as far as hunting goes, 3D as well. A lot of people here are archery only hunters now
I prefer geared up if i am big game huntin pv i have a pse longbow for birds and rabbit. In my area archery is a big deal but in the last 3yrs the has been a major jump n new comers to the sport
@ ram that awesome to kno. My dad and i were the first in this area (of abt 1500 ppl) when we first move here 20 years ago now there like 500. Its reall cool
@ dan-glad to hear its picking up in ur area too. I am really starting to find that the use of guns is depleting alot. Think jakes too r starting to realise tho a bow is quiet even tho there little chance of a quick getaway. As for hunting i think bowhunting is more challenging and i like a good challenge. Nothing gets ur blood pumpin faster than shooting a big whitetail buck first thing in the am... Except maybe s*x lol

Yeah the up close and personal is the way to go. Theres nothin like a mature animal so close the can hear your heart beating. To me theres no real challenge in takin a animal with a rifle at long distances
