(Admin)Honestly, although I know it hurts like hell now, he did right by you. No one can control their feelings, but he was at least honest enough to tell you when they changed, rather than hiding it, leading you on, cheating on you, and you eventually finding out 10 years later after the big wedding, 2.5 kids, and a shared mortgage.
Just make sure you continue to love like it's never going to hurt, because it's one of the best things that will happen to you when it does work out.
