I understand that what happened 12 years ago today wouldn't effect someone who lives halfway around the globe nearly as much as it's would those of us here in the States.

But is it unreasonable to expect...not necessarily sympathy...but a less callous attitude?

I lost people that day. Friends that never made the commute home. It's a deep scar on the American psyche and on my own. In the ensuing conflict, I lost more people. I don't think I'm being over-sensitive.

I was working in a call center for a long distance company...we had monitors everywhere and all calls stopped and someone turned on the news...for 7 hrs I didn't receive a call but stayed glued to the tv. My supervisor was a Muslim man and his two little girls went to a Muslim school a coupla blocks over...I was introduced to a level of hatred I had never been exposed to before. He had to be escorted from the building by tpd and to his daughters school to get them and take them home just because he was muslim. Men that he had worked with became like rabid dogs and watching that live at the same time as watching the second plane hit and the men and women juump from the top of the building just broke my heart....
