Wow! I feel I have learned quite a bit about contemporary mainstream worldview relating to courting in America. I feel so XV century. :-) It is interesting how much things have changed in my short 41 years of life. To paraphrase AC/DC, "We're on a highway to Hell." @Tanama: I think it was simpler before, I really do. You ask a girl out. She says yes or no. Three to six dates, your probably going steady, & married in a year.
Or ppl got married because they were expected to or it was arranged. And they stuck it out as long as possible, honoring the contract.
