What would the World be like without Religion? (by Rainbowbutterfly)
@Briteeyes1211: first of all it was a rhetorical question secondly until you get a formal education in theology i will not jump into that seething cauldron of debate with you. A man of god is at best a fallable being trying to beat his instincts. Because he fails doesn't make him less than or we would all be less than. Referencing the ten commandments is great but there are several books past exodus and i would suggest you read them. In matthew jesus gives the two commandments of the new covenant. And in romans paul who was a murderer by the way speaks of the failure of all of mankind to live up to the law and galations gives us the purpose of the law which is to convict us not save us. It's called thesis, synthesis and prothesis. But do not take my word for nothing the bible tells us to read it for ourselves.
Let me ask u something Sam, why u constantly jumping on everything i say? I wasnt degrading u or anyone else in my post by saying some people PRETEND to be Christians. I go to church and have my opinions and thats all i posted here, is MY OPINION, Im not God nor do i claim to be but i do know what MY Bible teaches. It is not me nor u that has the final judgement.
@Briteeyes1211: first of all i wasn't jumping on you, in fact i like alot of what you say. I am a student of theology as well as the history of the church and i do prison ministry work. My intention was not to jump on you but to give you a more compassionate perspective. If you are a christian, and i believe you are, then you know that it is the sinners that need christ and i believe we should show them love, forgiveness and compassion as we were shown abiding by the principle of attraction not promotion and not looking down upon those that are not where we are spiritually or have different beliefs. Everyone has the right to their own path in this journey and i'd like to see more people reaching out to help those that are falling instead of pointing out how they fell. What i said was not personal towards you and i am sorry you took it that way but i stand by everything i said. The message of the bible is of hope and grace not guilt and i know you know that so share that instead of pointing fingers, god bless
But sweetie i wasnt pointing fingers or atleast i didnt see it or mean it that way. I am a very forgiveing person, i forgive what most ppl cant. I was made in Gods image so i think if he can forgive then i should to. I was molested as a child and forgave the man, my father and i know God forgave him too. My statement wasnt towards anyones sins and not being forgiven, didnt mean to come off that way.
@Briteeyes1211: no worries, we'll chalk it up to a misunderstanding, but first i'll give you credit, even when you're being disagreable you remain respectful lol good job and to everyone that didn't post, whatever faith you practice, practice with love and tolerance and remember that the god that lives in your heart (whatever you call it) may be the only god that someone sees...
The world wld be better without religion, but lost without spirituality...
Have been listening to this debate about the difference between spirituality and religion for years and i hope this helps: religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems and world views that relate humanity to spirituality. Simply put it is a tool that teaches spirituality. One would not exist without the other, there must be teachers and students for spirituality to be passed on from one generation to the next.
To me religion is the kinda ppl jesus threw from the temple....and has been my experience, or rather observation, that religion has suffocated spirituality and made a mockery of 'Christianity'.
I think that without something to beleive in spiritually or even religion gives us hope. I know not everyone follows their church ways. But beleives. I do think forgiving someone of their sins is most godly or spiritual. But with out faith in something. I think chaos and people that are strongest take over weak will happen. I think weather its god or something else to beleive in chaos will happen.

@JLaDawn: i agree that each religion has it's problems but that's the sign of the times isn't it? By definition religion isn't the problem but rather the misuse of it.
