Burns (by OmgItsJessi)

Ouch! I'm with LaDawn. I've always thought ointments which are petroleum based can further injury. Creams are better. Do you have any aloe? Also try not to use any harsh soaps that might irritate since it involves your hand. Watch it closely for signs of infection.
From Tulsas burn center in Hillcrest hosp....petroleum jelly is an insulator (which is what most ointments are made of) so it traps the heat and keeps the burn from healing properly...creams such as silvadene are used out that hosp because they are not petroleum based....
I burn myself all the time welding... dont use neosporin...or any other petroleum based product. it DOES make the burn worse...cool water is good, some kind of aloe cream after its cooled off...you should be fine.
I dont care about thread jacking lol... But is it ok to use hand sanitazier on my hand? Cause i use about a bottle a week
Don't think it will hurt the healing process....but it is gonna burn like a mofo! I wldn't recommend it for at least a few days...
Try to avoid hand sanitizer as long as you can. The alcohol could dry out the damaged skin even more. If you can just use a mild soap, pat dry and moisturize with something like aloe. Hope its not to bad for ya.
