ELI5: Is "planned obsolescence" a real thing with our devices?
Every time my iPhone is about 2 years old the battery life gets very unreliable, and now my 6-year-old Xbox One is starting to crap out. Is this an unavoidable symptom of old batteries and hardware, or are companies purposefully making their products depreciate after a set amount of time? Would that be illegal?
