My partner(M31) told me (FTM28) he considers me attractive but the outside world doesn't and I dont know how to feel.

He was telling me about our friends new boyfriend and how he looks like a model, physically fit and attractive.
I've voiced to him in the past that I dont feel desired in our relationship and that when he talks about how attractive other people are in front of me its hard. We've been together 2 years.
I reminded him that this conversation about how attractive this guy was, was triggering me to have some really hard feelings about my body and our relationship because I struggle with feeling attractive and like.he desires me.
He went on to explain that he's talking about society's standard of beauty, people who turn heads and that neither of us are considered society's standard of beauty.
He told me hes attracted to me but I'm not what the outside world would see as attractive.
This has made me feel sad and unsure of myself. In my culture I am considered very desirable even though I am overweight. I am hit on multiple times a weeks. I do turn heads. But I'm not white, skinny, cis.
He says he isnt attracted to society's standard but he comments on it and is definitely attracted to physically fit men with abs and stereotypical male features.
I dont know how to feel other than inadequate and ugly.
TDLR my partner says he considers me attractive but the outside world doesn't by society's standards and that reminder hurts my feelings. And I dont know if I'm just too sensitive.
